Terms of Service

The terms that apply when you use Erasemetadata: acceptable use, no warranty, and what happens to your files (nothing leaves your device).

Last updated: 2026-10-29

1. What this service is

Erasemetadata provides browser-based tools that inspect and remove metadata from files you select. All processing happens on your device. We do not receive, store or transmit your files.

2. Acceptable use

You may use the service for personal or commercial work on files you own or have permission to modify.

You may not:

  • Use the service to remove provenance or metadata in order to deceive, defraud, or misrepresent authorship in violation of applicable law.
  • Attempt to disrupt the service, probe its infrastructure, or use it to distribute malware.
  • Scrape the site at a rate that degrades service for other users.
  • Resell the service as your own product.

You are responsible for how you use a cleaned file and for complying with the law in your jurisdiction.

3. No warranty

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

File formats are complex. We test the supported formats, but we cannot guarantee that every file will be processed correctly, that every metadata field will be detected, or that a cleaned file will behave identically in every application. Keep a copy of the original file and verify the cleaned file before relying on it.

The service does not verify the truth of any metadata or provenance claim, and it does not determine whether content is authentic or AI-generated.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

5. Intellectual property

The site, its design and its code are owned by us or our licensors. Files you process remain yours. We claim no rights over them.

6. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Features described as "coming soon" are not a commitment to deliver them.

7. Third-party links

The service may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
